How to prepare spicy variety of Upma – Rava Bath

Rava bath is another variant of Rava Upma which is spicy and tasty. Rava bath is unique and gives the taste of Upma and Vegetable bath. Those who like their breakfast to be spicy, here is how to make rava bath.


Ingredients for Rava Bath

  1. Rava / Soji – 1 cup
  2. Green Chillies – 1-2
  3. Vegetables – Brinjal, Capsicum, Alu, Peas – all cut into small cubes.
  4. Coriander – finely chopped
  5. Kari Patta – A few
  6. Lemon – 1
  7. Grated Coconut – 3 -4 spoons
  8. Oil – 4 Table Spoon
  9. Mustard seeds – 1 small spoon
  10. Jeera – 1 small spoon
  11. Gram dal – ½ spoon
  12. Urad Dal – ½ spoon
  13. Salt to taste

How to make Rava Bath in simple steps?

In a thick pan dry roast the Soji for 5-7 minutes in medium flame, now add 1 tablespoon of oil or ghee and fry on low flame till it turns light orange. Half boil Alu and Peas (and any other vegetables you wish to add except brinjal and capsicum)

Put the pan on flame, add the rest of oil, and when it is hot add mustard and let it splutter. Add Gram dal, Urad dal, Green Chilies, Jeera. Wait till the chilies turn whitish, now add chopped capsicum and brinjal. Allow the capsicum and brinjal to become soft, and then add Kari Patta, Salt to taste, ginger, boiled vegetables, and water. Add ½ table spoon Vangibath Powder. Water measurement varies depending on the Soji used. Generally, it will be 1:1½ ratio. When the water starts boiling add roasted slowly with constant stirring. Close the lid, simmer the flame and leave it for 5 minutes.

Now add grated coconut and lemon juice. You can add Tamarind solution in small quantity instead of lemon. Yummy, spicy Rava Bath is ready to serve. Savour this with Chips, Papad or Raitha. This is the easiest and best upma recipe made using vegetables.
