Badrinath is a beautiful holy town located in Chamoli district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Located at the height of 3,100metres and cradled in the mountain ranges like Nar-Narayan along with the backdrop of grand Neelkanth peak, Badrinath is one of the scenic hilly places. Holy place of Badrinath is situated on the left bank of river Alaknanda.

Badrinath temple is the main attraction for which lakhs of pilgrimage visits every year. Badrinath Yatra is famous for its legendary tales. One of the popular legends says that the place was the domain of Lord Shiva which later was taken by Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva shifted to Kedarnath. The mountains of Badrinath were even referred in Mahabharata. It is said that the Pandavas passed through the holy town of Badrinath and Mana while on their way to heaven. It is also said that Lord Vishnu performed his penance in Badrinath. Thus, there are many such legends linked to the significance of the place.

Best time to visit for Badrinath Yatra is between May to October, though it is not advisable to travel in monsoons because of the landslides and bad roadside. After Diwali, the temple doors are closed and the idols are shifted to Joshimath. Badrinath is covered with snow for six months and chilled throughout the year, so it is advisable to carry woolen clothes during the trip.

There are many hotels, ashrams and other accommodation options eaily available in Badrinath, though it is advisable to make prior bookings. There are many restaurants serving Indian food in Badrinath and no non-veg food and alcohol is allowed in Badrinath and around the temple.

By air:
Jolly Grant airport is nearest airport with the distance of around 314km from Badrinath. Jolly Grant airport is connected to all cities of India.
By road:
Badrinath is well connected with the good roads and with all destinations of Uttarakhand and India. Buses and taxis are easily available from any part of Uttarakhand to Badrinath.
By rail:
Rishikesh railway station is the nearest to Badrinath and it is well connected with other railway stations of Uttarakhand with daily rails.
