Bangalore is aptly known as ‘Garden City’ which it deserves. There are many parks and gardens and every locality has it. Some are well maintained, some are not. But space is definitely available, allowing an opportunity to develop them.

Among the many renowned gardens, Lalbah stands at the top. The concept of this garden dates back to 1760 and later more and more lands were added to it. Now this botanical garden occupies 240 acres of land and is situated in the heart of the city. The Lal Bagh Botanical Garden is a must visit place and one can visit this garden any time of the year. But the Flower Show organized by the Horticultural Department twice a year is definitely an event one should not miss. Flower Show is organized for Independence Day and Republic Day. The event will go on for about 10-12 days prior to both these days and will conclude on the said days. Every year a theme is selected and flower arrangement is done accordingly.

It is not just flowers that attract the visitors. There are vegetables on the show, bonsai plants, and different varieties of flowers to mesmerize the visitors. The arrangement looks like a song in flowers and is beyond words.

There are stalls which sell organic products, seeds, fertilizers, bio-products. Snacks and fruits are available to refresh the visitors. This apart there are eateries close by to every entrance. It is advisable to visit on a weekday and keep a full day to enjoy this Botanical Garden. Apart from flowers, look for the Christmas tree which is 165 years old and it looks like it has almost reached the sky. There is a wide variety of plants which are provided with information boards. The flora and fauna present here are unique and the rocks dating back to 3000 million years can be seen here. The floral clock should not to be missed. Rose garden is another not to miss place. Roaming around in this botanical garden itself is an experience which is amazing. Despite the hot weather, some places will be so cool, one can notice the effect of trees. Visitors can walk and enjoy the greenery as much as they can.
