Call it a coincidence or something fishy, the Hundi Collections of Lord Venkateswara Swamy have got increased by leaps and bounds since the demonetization of currency began. Usually, the footfalls in Tirupati are very high during Karthika Masam but they are on a decline now following Notes Ban.
But then the Hundi collections are increasing. Before the banning of the big currency, the hundi collection rarely crossed Rs two crores per day. But then, even as footfalls got reduced, amazingly the hundi collections of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala has almost doubled in the past four days.
TTD Officials are agreeing that banned currency of Rs 500, Rs 1,000 rupee notes in large numbers are being found during the counting of hundi collections. TTD is not accepting the banned currency for Pooja and other Seva tickets but can not stop the devotees from dropping the bundles of currency including foreign currency in the hundi.
